An objection against those involved in Tabligh
Mufti Mahmood Hasan Gangohi (Rahmatullah Alaih) mentioned,
' The rector of a Madressa once sent me a letter complaining about the Tabligh Jamaat.
He enquired about the proofs for spending seven chillas (periods of forty days) in a lifetime,
one chilla a year, two ghusht (joula) a week, and daily taleem. '
The reply i wrote back to him read,
' The fact that these activities do not contravene to the shariah is proof enough.
They do not stand in contravention of the shariah. Do tell me from where you derive the proof
for the syllabus of your Madressa and for the duration of your course? Why are certain works
studied in the first year, others in the second year and in a similar manner
every year has its curriculum?
Why are there three examinations during the year?
Where is the proof for all of this? It is obvious for you to claim that these activities
do not contravene the shariah and that experience has shown that the person who studies
in this manner successfully graduates.
This is ample proof. Enough said, therefore you should regard the curriculum of the Tabligh Jamaat in the same manner. '
