Shaykhul Islam Maulana Sayyed Hussein Ahmad Madani (rahimuhullah) with politics was no secret. He actively took part in the freedom movement of India, but at the same time a great Islamic scholar also.
After graduating from the Darul Uloom Deoband, he migrated to Medina with his family. He began teaching Arabic grammar, usul al-fiqh, usul al-hadith, and Quranic exegesis. He spent 18 years teaching these various Islamic sciences in Medina.
Maulana Madani, as he was also known as, was then appointed as head teacher and Shaikhul Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband. He filled this position for approximately 28 years.
He was active in Silk Letter Conspiracy and imprisoned for three years.He was against the two-nation theory, and predominantly due to this a large number of Muslims from Eastern U.P. and Bihar declined to migrate to Pakistan at the time of partition. He became the President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a post he held until his death in 1957. (He also held the post of Shaikhul Hadith at Darul Uloom Deoband till his death)
He always liked praised and supported the Effort of Dawat o Tabligh. He often gave discourses in gatherings in Ijtema.

The first big Tablighi Ijtema that was held in Nuh (Mewat ,India) on 28-30 nov 1941, there the Juma Prayer was led by Maulana Hussain Ahmad Madni R.A.
He also supported at the critical moments during division of India along with Hafiz e Millat Hifzur Rahman Seorarhwi R.A.
