Assalam O Alaikum,
Our creator Almighty Allah say in Quran that Male and female child are his decision.
لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ يَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ الذُّكُورَ
أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَاثًا وَيَجْعَلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ عَقِيمًا إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ (الشورى: 49,50).
To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He grants females to whom He wills, and grants males to whom He wills. Or He combines for them couples, both males and females, and makes whom He wills barren. Surely,He is All-Knowing, Very-Powerful
(Surah Shura the counsel 42:49,50.
SOME UNFORTUNATE FACTS OF TODAYS WORLD....
1.It is unfortunate but common in Indian Subcontinent (Dont know about other parts of the world) that a female child is considered inferior to male child.
2.Parents Relatives become more happy with male child and less / Not happy at all with female child.Specially if second third female child.
3.Some People even go to extreme and ill treat girl child/ oppress the mother for delivering female child.
4. Some people who have no knowledge of Allah system order and command of creator even go to the extreme of doing Feotecide (Killing of female child after knowing sex through ultrasound scanning).......... Alas..........Wallah what they will reply on the day of judgment
Allah warns in Quran.......
وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ).
بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ (التكوير: 8,9).
and when the girl-child that was buried alive will be asked, for what sin she was killed,

When the sun will be folded up,and when the stars will swoop down,and when the mountains will be set in motion, and when the ten-months pregnant she-camels will be abandoned,and when the wild beasts will be gathered together,and when the seas will be flared up,and when the people will be arranged in categories,and when the girl-child that was buried alive will be asked, for what sin she was killed,

May Allah give Muslims, Taufeeq to follow themselves and to show the right path to mankind.May Allah show the right path to all human being.

2.Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "No one has three daughters or three sisters and is good to them but that he will enter the Garden."
3.Jabir ibn 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Anyone who has three daughters and provides for them, clothes them and shows mercy to them will definitely enter the Garden." A man from the people said, "And two daughters, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "And two."

Special status of female child in eyes of our creator and his Last messenger Muhammad sallallahu Alaihi wasallam.
Anas 
reported that the Prophet 
said: "He who raises two daughters until their puberty will be with me in Paradise like this", and he symbolized the proximity by showing two of his fingers with a slight gap between them." (Muslim Shareef)
'Uqba ibn 'Amir reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "If someone has three daughters and is patient with them and clothes them from his wealth, they will be a shield against the Fire for him."

1. Imaam Hasan Basri 
said: “Girls
are a source of reward and sons are a blessing; rewards are in one's
favour (on the Day of Judgement) whereas one will be held accountable
for blessings.”

A daughter is a great bounty and an honour granted by Allaah, and a gate towards Paradise.
