he Five Kalimahs are recorded in various books of knowledge, and are recited and remembered by Muslims across the globe. These kalimahs were compiled together for people to memorise and learn the basic fundamentals of Islam. They are not found altogether complete in any one narration from Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. However, some of them can be found individually in the narrations.
First Kalimah, The Kalimah of Islam
This Kalimah is also known as;
Kalimah Tauheed; Monotheism
Kalimah Tayyibah; Purity
Arabic
لآ اِلَهَ اِلّا اللّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوُل ا
Transliteration
La ilaha illa-llah, Muhammadu-rasulu-llah
Translation
There is no Allah but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
Second Kalimah
Also known as the words of testimony or kalima-e-shahaadat
Arabic
اشْهَدُ انْ لّآ اِلهَ اِلَّا اللّهُ وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدً اعَبْدُه وَرَسُولُه
Transliteration
Ašhadu an la ilaha illa-llah, wa ašhadu anna Muhammadun Aabduhu wa rasuluh.
Translation
I bear witness that there is no Allah but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is Allahs servant and His Messenger
Third Kalimah
Also known as the word of glorification or kalima-e-tamjeed
Arabic
سُبْحَان اللهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ وَ لآ اِلهَ اِلّا اللّهُ، وَ اللّهُ اَكْبَرُ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّة ِ الَّا بِاللّهِ الْعَلِىّ الْعَظِيْم
Transliteration
Subhana-llahi, wa-l-hamdu li-llahi, wa la ilaha illa-llahu, wa-llahu akbar. Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-llahi-l-aliyyi-l-azeem
Translation
Glory be to Allah and Praise to Allah, and there is no Allah But Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And there is no Might or Power except with Allah, the Exalted, the Great one.
Fourth Kalimah
Also known as the word of unity or kalima-e-tauhid
Arabic
سُبْحَان اللهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ وَ لآ اِلهَ اِلّا اللّهُ، وَ اللّهُ اَكْبَرُ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّة ِ الَّا بِاللّهِ الْعَلِىّ الْعَظِيْم
Transliteration
La ilaha illa-llahu wahdahu la šharika lahu lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-hamdu yuhyi wa yumitu biyadihi-l-khayr, wa huwa ala kulli šhayin qadir.
Translation
There is no Allah but Allah. He is only One. He has no partners. For Him (is) the Kingdom. And for Him (is) the Praise. He gives life and acuses death. In His hand (is) the goodness. And He has power over everything..
Fifth Kalimah
Also known as the words of rejecting disbelief or kalima-e-rud-e-kuffer

اَللّهُمََّ اِنّىْ اَعُوْدُ بِكَ مِنْ انْ اُشْرِكَ شَيئًا وََّ اَنَا اَعْلَمُ بِه وَ اسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لا اَعْلَمُ بِه تُبْتُ عَنْهُ وَ تَبَرَّاْتُ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَ الشّرْكِ وَ الْكِذْبِ وَ الْمَعَاصِىْ كُلِّهَا وَ اَسْلَمْتُ وَ اَقُوْلُ لآ اِلهَ اِلَّا اللّهُ مُحَمَّدُ رَّسُوْلُ اللّهِ
Transliteration
Allahumma inni au`zu bika min an ušhrika bika šhay'an-wwa-ana a'lamu bihi wa-stagfiruka lama la a'lamu bihi tubtu anhu wa tabarratu mina-l-kufri wa-šhirki wa-l-kizbi wa-l-ma'asi kulliha wa aslamtu wa aqulu la ilaha illa-llahu muhammadu-rasulu-llah.
Translation
O Allah! Certainly I seek protection with You from, that I associate partner with You anything and I know it. And I seek forgiveness from You for that I do not know it. I repented from it and I made myself free from disbelief and polytheism and the falsehood and from all sins and I submit to Your will and I say there is no Allah but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
