Scholarly advice to Tableeghis, those who go out in Khurooj fii sabeelillah with Jamaaat

Instructions and departing advices to Jamaat going in the path of Allah by
Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Rahimullah

After Khutbae Masnoona Maulana said............
“The Sun is Noorani (Illuminated) . It has illumination. It gives light to the earth and hence illuminates the earth. If the sun itself would have been dark and would have darkness instead of light then it would have spreaded the darkness.
You people have temprorily left your house and will be going near and far all around the world.  If you will have Noor (light) then only you can illuminate others. If you will have darkness then darkness will spread.
That’s why your first effort should be on yourself to make yourself lightened. Noor is not inherently attached to a person rather it comes with the Aamal. That’s why you should do the noorani Aamaal so that nor should come in your life and it should spread from you.
At the same time you should refrain from those actions that bring darkness in yourself and spread it.

The Aamaal with Noor (Illuminated and bright actions)
The amaal with nor are those which is done for the pleasure of Allah and has been preached by Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam. These Aamaal has to be done so continuosly and permanently that you should get colored in those Aamaal.
Some of them are.
1.    To give dawah to mankind with Ikhlas for attainment of Emaan and Faith that is the core of the calls of Prophet and the most valuable sympathy for the mankind.
2.    The Salat and all other prayers that also includes Zikr Tilawat Dua and Istaghfar.
3.    To get involve in seeking Ilm (Knowledge) specially those Ilm which relates the result of Akhirah and actions bearing effect on success in Akhirah.
4.    Good manners that were the Ikhlaq of Hazarat Muhammd sallallahu alaihi wasallam and that has been preached by him, the essence of these are …….To get involve in the service of creations of Allah and having good treatment with them for the pleasure of Allah.
These are those Noorani Aamaal, the continuous practice on these will enlighten you. So you should involve yourself into it.

Two Enemies
Please remember, You are temprorily leaving your home, your special circle but you are not leaving at home your Nafs and Shaytan. These two enemies on each step will be with you. Your bad habbits are also with you.   These all will try to divert you to those actions that darkens you and you will be away from the pleasure of Allah.

Plan to save yourself from Enemies.
You can save yourself from these enemies only if you keep yourself busy with the above mentioned Noorani Aamaal for whole 24 hours except the six-seven hours of sleep. Either you should be busy with calling to Allah, giving Dawah of Emaan and Aamaal, or you should be engaged with offering prayers, zikr o Tilawat or should be involved in Taleem o Taallum (teaching and learning) or should be in service of creation of Allah.
The only way to save yourself from Nafs and Shaytan is that you should not have any spare time other than the above mentioned Aamaal.

The Pleasure of Allah
All the above mentioned Aamaal will have any good effect only if these will be done only for the pleasure of Allah and for the sawab of Akhirah. May Allah forgive us if it will not be done with ikhlas then they may lead towards Hell. Famous Hadith of Abu Huraira Raziallahu Anhu narrate from the prophet
Narrated Abu Huraira (r.a.): I heard Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s.) saying: (Muslim Shareef Hadith No 4688)

The first of the people to be judgend on the Day of Judgment will be a man who died as a martyr. He will be brought forth. Allah will make him know about His blessings (Which He had bestowed on him in the world). The man will acknowledge them. Then Allah will ask him: What did you do with them? He will say: I fought in Your way until I died as a martyr. Allah will remark: You are lying. You fought so that you may be called a brave warrior. Then orders will be passed against him. So he will be dragged along on his face and cast into Hell.

Second will be a man who studied (religious) knowledge. Then he taught it to others and recited the Qur'an. He will be brought (for judgment). Allah will remind him of His favours (showered on him in the world). He will admit them (having enjoyed them in his life). Then Allah will ask him: What did you do with them? He will reply: I acquired knowledge and imparted it and also recited the Qur'an for Your sake. Allah will observe: You have told a lie, for you got knowledge to be renowned as a scholar; and you recited the Qur'an to be marked as Qari (one who recites the Qur'an according to the rules). Then orders will be passed against him. So he will be dragged along on his face and thrown into Hell.

Third will be a man to whom Allah had made abundantly rich and granted him every kind of wealth. He will be brought for Judgment. Allah will let him know about His gifts conferred upon him in the world. He will recognize them. Then Allah will inquire: What did you with them? He will say: I left no way in which You like money to be spent without spending in it for Your sake. Allah will say:  You are lying, You did so to be described as generous (in the society); (It means you got your reward in the world according to your intention). Now you deserve nothing in the Hereafter except Hell). So orders will be passed against him and he will be dragged along on his face until he will be hurled into Hell.

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Muslim)

Just think how terrifying this hadith is. When abu Huraira used to narrate this hadith he used to cry very much and sometimes even became unconscious. When one Tabaee after listening it from abu huraira narrated to Hazrat Maawia raziallahu anhu, then hazrat maawia became so sad and cried so much that people became apprehensive of life. After some time he became normal and then he said. “Allah Taala has told the truth in The Holy Quran, and his prophet has conveyed the true message, that whosoever will seek the luxury and fame of this world by their Aamaal, we will give them every bit and piece of return in this world. And in Akhirat they will not get anything except the fire of the hell. And all their good deeds will become waste, and useless and of no value.
So, the noorani Aamaal will create noor only if they are done with Ikhlas only for the sake of Allah and Akhirah. That’s why on one hand you have to engage yourself in these Aamaal and at the same time to be careful about your intention.
If shaytan fails in removing someone from good deed then he infiltrate through the corruption in intention. If the action ordered by Allah is not done for the sake of Allah then it will not have connection with Allah, and they cannot become waseela to Allah for acceptance and his pleasure. That’s why you have to strive on both fronts.
One is the deep involvement in those Aamaal that please Allah and second to be careful about the intention. This means that with all actions only pleasure of Allah should be seeked. Alla success is in acceptance of Allah and his displeasure carries only failures.

The actual work to do in the path of Allah are four
I have already talked that during your stay in the path of Allah in jamaat you have keep yourself busy in four works.
The first Priority work
1.    The Dawah of Emaan Faith and the Aamaal related with it. For this Dawah you have avenue like Umoomi Gusht (Meeting in locality door to door) Khussosi Gusht (Going to meet a particular person in the locality). The manners and etiquettes will be told at the time of Gusht. You should listen to them carefully. When you will go out in market for giving Dawah, the shaytan will draw your attention towards the materialism of market places. So before going out you should pray to Allah to save yourself from the the Shar (ill effect) of your Nafs and Shaytan. May Allah give us taufeeq to do the work of dawah according to his pleasure? You should have full Faith on Allah, his greatness, his high and incomparable qualities, his name and attributes.  The gaze should be lower down. Your objective of pleasing Allah should be always in front of your eyes, like when a diseased person goes to hospital then the ill person and his relatives’ donot involve in buildings, and decoration Rather they only remain concerned about the treatment of the diseased.
In Khusoosi Gusht if the person to whom you have gone to meet is not interested at that time, you should wrap up the talk with intelligence and should arrange meeting at different time. And we should do dua for him. If he is free and ready to listen at that time, we should put complete Dawah and should also encourage him to spare some time for the Path of Allah.
In this khusoosi gusht if you are meeting an Aalim, religious scholar,
In Umoomi gusht it should be tried that people should gather in mosque and then a talk is arranged on Emaan Faith, Salat, Zikr of Allah, Ilm e deen, Akhlaq Islamic etiquettes, and deeni jad o jehad. There must be attempt to do Tashkeel for making Jamaat to go in the path of Allah. Don’t limit upto doing tashkeel rather those who have given their name for going in the path of Allah make arrangement for their proper Jamaat. And to the best of your ability you should ensure that their time in the path of Allah be utilized properly so that they could get full befit.
Rest of the brothers who are not ready to go in the path of Allah at this time should be encouraged for joining local gusht, local ijtema, Taleem at Masjid and at home, zikr and to be punctual for Salat. Proper arrangement should be made for all these.

Dua is the most important and soul of all effort of Dawah
When in connection with dawat all the above effort is complete then like a farmer who mix his seed in farm and then repose faith on Allah for crops, do dua to Allah with full attention that only Allah has control over the heart. Only Allah give taufeeq for Emaan and Aamal e saleha to whom he wants and does not give who he rejects.
The second Priority work
After Dawah the second important work is Taleem o Taallum (Learning seeking knowledge and Teaching through interdependent system). When you sit for taleem sit with respect, and your heart should feel the greatness of knowledge brought by prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam from Allah. There should be muzakra of the Fazail and you should also remember Masnoon Dua. (Dua reported by Prophet for different occasion)
The third Priority work
After Dawah and Taleem remaining time you should devout for Ibaadat, Offer the Nawafil, Recite The Holy Quran or do zikr of Allah.
The fourth Priority work
The fourth work is Service of slaves of Allah. (Service of creations of Allah will bring you closer to Allah)
One example
As during offering Salah a person alwys remain attentive and engaged either in Ruku Sajda or Qayam similarly a person in the path of Allah should remain attentive either to dawat, Taleem o Taallum, or zikr o ibaadat and service of creation of Allah.
So these four work will be done as main work during stay of the jamaat in the path of Allah so much so that these work should become an all time routine and become Mizaj.

These work will be done Ijtemai (collectively) and Infaradi (individually) both.

The Ijtemai means those programme that are done under a Nizam like
§  Dawat in Umoomi gusht and Khususi Gusht,
§  Taleem in the time prescribed in Mashwara,
§  Offering Farz prayer with Jamaat (Takbeer e oola) Sunnah praryer before and after the Farz Prayer (as applicable),

§  Collective arrangement of stay and food etc.

Infaradee Aamal (Individual Aamal)
This will include Individual Dawah, Individual Taleem (seeking knowledge/learning), Individual Ibaadat, Individual Service. These individual work will be done in those hours where no Ijtamaee work is there. For example After lunch there is no collective Aamaal so this is a very good time for going to someone for Dawah, teaching learning of Dua, correction of Salat (Khushu Khuzu and Masael), offering Nafil Salat, or doing khidmat to anyone, these all will be counted in Infaradi Aamaal.

So these four work will be done as main objective work and we should devout in these work on full scale. Then these will bring Noor in their life and it will also spread to others.

Four Unavoidable Work (Basic necessities)

There are four unavoidable work. We have to engage in it but should not attend more than the requirement. These are
1.    Eating and drinking
2.    Sleeping
3.    Taking bath and nature calls
4.    Necessary talk with each other.
These are unavoidable necessities. We should give them as much time as required. Time should not be wasted other than requirement. For e.g normally six hour sleep is enough for a person.

Four thing to be abstained Fully.

Four things to abstain are (Don’t Do)
1.    Don’t do Sawal (asking something from anybody other than Allah like food, money etc), Rather you should not present your need to any human being in a way that he should give something. This is also a kind of Sawal. (Rather Jamaat will prepare its own food etc will not ask anything from local. Although if someone from local want to invite for food then it is different thing.)
2.    To save yourself from Ishraf (Ishraf can be defined as not telling something from tongue but in heart it is coming that locals should give us food etc, or any similar things.) It is sawal of heart in place of sawal of tongue.
3.    To save yourself from Israf and Fazool Kharchi [Spending money etc as immoderate (Lavis/wasteful/extravagant/unnecessary expenditure)]. This is an unwanted act all the time even being at home but in the path of Allah it affects other members of Jamaat also.
4.    You should not use anything without the prior permission of its owner.(even belongings of your fellow of jamaat). Sometimes it troubles the owner and islamically it is Haram. Although there is no harm in using it after taking permission from the owner.

These all were some important things necessary to practice and abide yourself in the path of Allah. Your day and night should be spent on these line.
You will travel and move on the earth of Allah with these Aamaal and will do effort on Allah creations and seek guidance from Allah for yourself, for ummat e Muslima, and for whole humanity. These all are your Amaal and your Wazeefa.
If you will do all this Allah who is Aarhamur Rahemeen will not keep you Mahroom (Unattended without acceptance).

JAZAKALLAH

Tablighi Jamaat Relation with Islamic Movements Organization:Guidelines by Maulana Ilyas etc

Tablighi Jamaat and other Islamic Organisation and Movement : The elders Guidelines

(From Book of sheikh Nadvi "Doosri deeni Tahreekon ke bare mein Hamara Tarz e Amal Page no 6))

Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi has been the pillar of the evolutionary phase of Tabligh movement. And I am not exaggerating rather it is a matter of fact that has been repeatedly expressed by Maulana Ilyas and Maulana Yusuf that he was the most trusted collegues of Maulana Ulyas among the Religious educated Scholars. He write in his book

“ If parallal to our effort of Tabligh any other Movement or organization is doing something good in any field of deen according to their understanding then we should not have any difference with them. Rather we should acknowledge their work and effort. We should do dua for their success.
We should understand that they have taken care of certain field of deen and they have given us chance to devout our time energy and resources  do the basic ground effort of deen. This way they are helping us.

Hazrat Maula Ilyas used to do special Dua for Madaris, and used to encourage his associate to donate generously for Madaris. And it is amatter of fact that the earning of many of the Madrsa has increased because of Tabligh Movement. Maulana always instructed people associated with him to go in the service of Ulema, to develop close contact with them, and their service in terms of respect love and monetary help has to be done.”

Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi explains that Maulana Ilyas Rahimullah has stressed that Tabligh Movement and effort is actually making ground for the Madaris (Islamic school) and other religious institutions and movements.
Maulana Ilyas writes in a letter
“For all the departments of deen this Tabligh of motivation and temprory migration is akin to creating ground. Tabligh is making the ground plain, and irrigating it with shower. Rest all the religious activities can be cultivated on this ground like the orchard”
(Deeni Dawat page 292)

Tablighi Jamaat gives much Importance to Islamic Madaris &  Jamea (Islamic School & Islamic University Universities)

Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi writes
“ Maulana Ilyas was considering the Islamic madaris  very essential of Ummah. And for him decrease in it like a clamity on Muslims. When in Mewat due to negligence of people many Madaris got closed he writes to Haji Rasheed Ahmad Sb (Who was active in management of many of Madaris of that region) in his letter.

Maulana Ilyas writes
“You should try your best to inculcate in mind of people that slow down or closer of Madaris is a tragedy and clamity for the Ummah. It will be severly asked on the day of judgment that as a result Quran and its teaching will be diminished. If we don’t have a concern in our heart and have no share in our money and wealth for these Islamic school it is a great danger for all of us”

Maulana Yusuf Rahimullah Advicing to combine Dawah and Taleem

Harzat Sheikhul Hadith quotes in his urdu book" objections on Tablighi Jamaat page no 32" (Have nt been translated yet in English) and its answer
Alaso in the  book Biography of Maulana Yusuf Rahimullah

Mufti Azeezur Rahman Sb (Who was a full time teacher in a leading Madarsa of India) write.
“ I discussed my busy engagement of teaching in Madarsa with Maulana Yusuf Rahimullah and said that I have become very much tired of this engagement and I wish I should get a replacement for my position for some time for my teaching and I should engage myself for Tabligh work.

Maulana Yusuf Replied. “ Never, Never . You have to teach before coming to Tabligh and you have to do it after coming to Tabligh.  People alleges us that we are against Madaris. This is totally wrong. We consider teaching (Islamic education) a basic crucial important work. And the matter of fact is that we ourself also teach in Madarsa. What we want that you should the work of Tabligh alongwith your teaching engagement.”

Dawah Training Course Best Approach to do Dawah work along with teaching and learning

The Approach to Implement the Model of Teaching and Learning
1.     Today it is the prime need of Muslim ummah to revive the teaching and learning pattern of prophetic era. For the basic Required education of general muslim mass there is a need to mix and complement the formal system of Islamic teaching in Madarsa/ Islamic Institution with this system. It is easy and wide ranging methodology for Muslim Ummah at larger scale Without leaving any section of Society. Under the supervision of formal Madarsas and educational Institution there should be some mobile institution ,living guide and reformers, and speaking manuscript. (Chalti phirti darsgahein, jeeti jagti khanqahein, bolte chalet saheefe,).They will fill their bucket of knowledge and will deliver to masses.
2.     The migration and motivation, movement and striving for deen has to be revived. It is the fundamental structure of spreading Islamic knowledge and service of prophet era, That structure has to be replicated and revived.
3.     Effort should be made that the teaching-learning and service of deen be made integral part of a Muslim life.
A call and effort should be made that Muslims should accomplish their worldly engagement under this primary work of Service of deen. This is the real life underneath the
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالإِنسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ (الذاريات: 56
         [51:56]
I did not create the Jinns and the human beings except for the purpose that they should worship Me.
And with the enlightenment made by Quran Muslim has been assigned   this task
[3:110]
You are the best Ummah ever raised for mankind. You bid the Fair and forbid the Unfair, and you believe in Allah.
4.       The Rest time and resources should be efficiently utilized for lawful earning instead of wasting time in unnecessary Unislamic and unwanted activities. As Allah says  …………………………..Allah keep friend the Momin who earn his livelihood.
Migration and Motivation will be three way Chain Process
5.     Muslims should be encouraged for learning Practical deen and to Motivate others. For this they should be encouraged to go out temporarily in the path of Allah by leaving engagements for a short period. In this period they should be provided with a practical religious environment of Sunnah and Shariah. This environment will make them familiar with a religious life to be adopted. They will go temporarily to places with small group of fellow Muslims of different Knowledge level. Few among them will be Scholar and rest will learn Islamic knowledge and Islamic nurturing through mutual dependence.
6.     (It is for the education of general muslim mass. For Those Muslims who cannot join Formal Madarsa/Islamic Institutes or cannot spare themselves completely for a formal Islamic learning. It is not only for well known illiterates (Labourers, Rickshaw Pullers etc) but also for those Muslims who otherwise worldly education are from elite class but with respect to knowledge and practice of deen are not a good position. (Professionals, Doctors engineers all others who are educated but not having Islamic education etc) A viable model for 95 % Muslims).
7.     This basic structure of Islamic nurturing and Learning this environment will be built by accompanying fellows who have gone together. This environment will be further strengthened by their effort to motivate other people of the locality where they have gone and stationed. This finally will lead to a chained Process.
a.     Between each member of the group through a bidirectional process. (In group some will be more knowledgeable and some less they will learn knowledge and qualities from each other Wa Tawanu Alal birre wattaqwa.
b.     It will also motivate the people of the area where they have gone to learn deen and for service of deen.
c.      By this way it will become a chain and will bring revolution in Whole ummat.
On the above mentioned strong principles each section of the Muslim is called and encouraged to temporary leave their busy engagements and to utilize time for teaching and learning of himself and for other brothers in a religious environment.
In one of his letters Maulana Ilyas Rahimullah writes.

"We have stopped setting out in batches in the path of Allah for the sake of deen although it was a fundamental method. The Prophet himself used to go from place to place and whoever took pledge of Islam, also, began to do the same, the zeal of Sahaba was awe-inspiring with full dedication. In Mecca, Islam was confined to the individual plane (individual life), everyone who became a Muslim strove individually to preach the Faith to others.  In Medina, there was a more Social and collective life. On migrating to Madeena, the Prophet started sending out batches of Muslims in all directions, and as the Muslims grew in number, they acquired a dynamic character. To be in a state of movement and active endeavor in the path of Faith (deen) was the thing that mattered. When it ceased, the Caliphate  too, came to an end."

(Trranslated from Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi book Musalmano ki Umoomi Taleem o Tarbeeat ka Nizam page 18-20)

Tablighi Jamaat KARGUZARI work in oposition Usool for Worker

Below article is originally written by Hounorable Brother HAJI from Maslaysia.JAZAKALLAH O KHAIR.This is his personal narrative / Karguzari of his last year 40 days in  JUNE 2012. (Being presented with some editing).

A few word and request before KARGUZARI ..

This give a very important lesson to all of us........

1. How by following the Usool of Tabligh a person who is apparently looks Anti Tabligh may be made understand the work of tabligh .

2.Dont be disheartened if anyone is not supporting/ opposing Tabligh because of some misunderstanding.

Maulana Ilyas said

"When we meet any  alim or pious personality anywhere who does not support this work, please do not think bad of them. Rather, we must understand that the reality of this work has not been perfectly opened to them.....

3. Please remember that even Maulana Yusuf Rahimullah was initially not convinced about Tabligh work but when he understood the work .............What he sacrificed for Dawah every one Knows....and Allah spreaded the work all over the world utilising Maulana Yusuf.....

4.Allah again clarified to us that work is not dependent on Maulana Yusuf as ........he died prematurely keeping everyone groping.......But.....After his death Allah spreaded work even more.

That is why Hadhratji Maulana Inamul Hassan rahimahullah used to say time and again that we should not be worried by the disfavor and opposition because Allah is the Doer.

5. So it is Allah work He will take his work from whom he will want.

6.For many of us weakness is on our part that we donot follow advices of our elders in words and spirit.

7.May Allah give taufeeq to do dawah work with Ikhlas, istakhlas, Inabat, and ussols that our elders have extracted from Quran and hadith and they are priceless.

THE KARGUZARI STARTS

The Ulama' and the Effort of Dakwah and Tabligh: Part 1

Hadhrat Maulana Ilyas Dehlawi rahimahullah said, "Wherever a person doing the effort of dakwah and tabligh goes,  he should make attempt to visit the ulama (scholars of Deen) and the righteous and pious people, for spiritual benefit, instead of directly giving dakwah to them. These people are already busy engaging in religious matters, and certainly they are more experienced and religious. You will not be able to make them understand that this effort of dakwah and tabligh is more important and more useful than other efforts. There's a chance that  they will not agree or will not accept your word, and if they had said "No" then it is difficult to change it to "Yes". Consequently, the laymen who follow him might also shun the tabligh effort. And it is only likely to cause prejudicial effect on yourself. Thus, visit the ulama only with the intention to take spiritual benefits from them."

"Nevertheless, make effort in the area where an alim resides with tartib and usool. The good and positive effects of the effort will, hopefully, reach him and attract him to embrace this work. It follows that once he likes you and your effort, then request him to supervise this work. And with utmost manners and politeness, inform him about this work."

"When we meet any
alim or pious personality anywhere who does not support this work, please do not think bad of them. Rather, we must understand that the reality of this work has not been perfectly opened to them. We must realize that the ulama are special servants of Deen, thus, shaytaan is hostile to and seeks to harm them more as they are the arch-enemies of shaytaan (as thieves only steal valuable things). Whereas  the people who are busy with the worldly matters even feel heavy to leave their worldly affairs to take up any takaza, what more of the religious people who feel their affairs is nobly high? The wise men say, "The veils of light are thicker than the veils of darkness.""

With this precious advises in mind, we proceeded to Kelantan, the East-Coast state of Malaysia, on dakwah and tabligh journey for 40 days in June 2010. We were a 12-members jamaat including 7 university undergraduates, one of them a Somalian student.
95% of Kelantan's population are ethnic Malay, and under the Malaysian Constitution, all Malays are Muslims; therefore, Islam is the most influential religion in the state. The state is also known as 'Serambi Makkah' (the 'Antechamber of Makkah') and the Arabic honorific of the state is Darul Naim ("The Blissful Abode")..

Nonetheless, by applying the above mentioned
usool and tartib as stated by Hadhrat Maulana Ilyas Dehlawi rahimahullah, our effort during the khuruuj fiisabilillah in Kelantan turned out to be much easier. Whenever we knew of an alim happened to be residing at the "route" that we were staying, either he happened to also be an imam or chairman of the masjid, or living in the vicinity of the masjid, we made a point to personally talk to him, requesting him for a piece of advice to be given to us as a group in the masjid.  In all different routes and occasions, the ulama that we met were more than happy to pass down to us kind advice and words of approval and encouragement publicly in front of every worshipers. Thus, I believe the least effect of those ulama's blessing and consent had made our effort in blending and mixing with the local people turned out to be very smooth and and in harmony. That was the case until our route of tasykeel reached the district jame' masjid.

A few days prior, we were cautioned about the possibility of aggression and prejudice that might face us at .............masjid. In fact we were given a choice whether to stay at the masjid or just to skip and move on to another masjid on the list of routes that had been given to us earlier.

When we reached the masjid in the morning, we were greeted by a very pleasant soft-spoken elderly
aalim who kindly prepared some refreshments for us. We noticed that the main hall of the worshiping area was tightly locked. We then made mesywarah  with the elderly aalim whom we fondly called 'Baba', at the back corridor of the masjid which was quite spacious. According to him, for the past 7 years no jamaat was allowed to stay at the masjid for 'itikaaf even for one day. Many jamaats that had attempted to make effort of dakwah and tabligh at the masjid  had been thrown out at the order of the chief imam or the 'old imam' as they called it in Kelantan (the assistant imam is called 'young imam'). Before his appointment as old imam, the jame' masjid had been enlightened with the 5-aamal of masjid. Back then there were many brothers who participated in the local effort of dakwah and tabligh. However, shaytaan had managed to sow the seed of hatred and enmity among the local people. Consequently, the old imam ................................ somehow branded  those who participate in the effort of dakwah and tabligh ................. Since then, he had been launching fierce opposition against the local tablighi brothers until there was only Baba left who keeps on making the effort at the...........' masjid.. Ironically, Baba and the old imam attended the same pondok or  madrasah as students of Deen when they were young.

The
karguzari that we heard from Baba caused nausea in our stomach. I and Munawar were chosen to visit the old imam at his house. Kadrey, a fine young man who was studying at MARA University of Technology, gave us a bottle of honey he recently bought to be offered as a present to the imam.

We reached the chief imam's house at around 10.30 am. We were greeted by his son who politely invited us to wait for his father in the living room. The chief imam was flushed with rage the moment he saw us. The anger was visible on his face. "Ustadz, we are a jamaat from Kuala Lumpur arriving at your masjid," I spoke to him in Kelantanese dialect as I was born in the state. "No! No! You people are not allowed to stay at the masjid," he retorted with a snarl. I pretended not to hear him and decided that that instead of listening to his words of disapproval, I would quickly present my case of appeal.  "Ustadz, there are a number of university students travelling with us. They are from various universities and from different parts of the country - Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Sarawak and also a Somali student. Now that they are on their semester break, they decided to come to Kelantan to learn Deen. We were told at the ..............Masjid in Kuala Lumpur that whenever we meet an aalim here, we should ask for Deeni advises from him. Now the students are waiting in the masjid. We ask for your time to give us special advises. It is not fit and proper for us to come here without obtaining any benefit from the ulama' here. Would you be able to spend your time, even if it is for a short time, perhaps after Dzuhur or after Asar?" By Allah, his rage and anger instantly lessened the moment he heard of our plead. "I would not be at the masjid for Asar," he said amid uneasy broken voice. "Perhaps after Dzuhur solah? Just for a short moment, Ustadz," I continued pleading. When I sensed hesitation on his part, I gestured at Munawar and said, "Oh! We bring honey as a gift for you." Munawar immediately handed the bottle of honey to him with his trademark smile. "Allright, for a short time after Dzuhur," the chief imam said to our relief and joy.

And Masha'Allah! We all sat waiting behind him as he performed nafil ba'diyah solah after Dzuhur. We gathered around him listening attentively to his advice and what a wonderful advice it was. At the end of his advice, he raised his hands to make du'a for us and we responded with "Aamin". Thereupon, we stayed in the.............. masjid for 3 days without any trouble and hindrance. Subhanallah!

And Baba's face was beaming with happiness when he heard our karguzari later.

It is not so creditable to work in the favourable and conducive environment as in the unfavourable and adverse conditions along with safeguarding our principles and trend. The ability and capability of a worker is best judged in such situations. That is why Hadhratji Maulana Inamul Hassan rahimahullah used to say time and again that we should not be worried by the disfavour and opposition because Allah is the Doer. When He comes to doing, even idols would divulge his oneness and the voice of truth would rise from the establishment of untruth.
